Use this habit to level-up your nonprofit's Impact
WAWOS Founder, Jacquie Robison, shared one new habit she began in January, with the goal of scaling the nonprofit's existing programs and growing engagement. She calls it The Friday "Visionary Decompression", and shares what that looks like below.
Check out this weekly business habit framework that can help keep you focused and accountable.
The Habit: The 20-Minute "Visionary Decompression"
Every Friday, before you close your laptop or leave your workspace, set a timer for 20 minutes. Do not check emails. Do not look at your calendar for Monday. Instead, answer these three questions in a dedicated online journalling space:
- What moved the needle? Identify one thing you did this week that actually serves the 2026 version of your organization (e.g., a partnership built, a system automated, a donor relationship nurtured), rather than just putting out a fire.
- What did I do that someone else should have? This is the hardest part for founders. Identify one task you handled this week that you need to delegate or eliminate by next year to step into your full leadership.
- What is the "Silent Signal"? What is one intuition or "gut feeling" you had this week about your mission that you’ve been too busy to voice?
Why this sparks change for 2026
- Shifts you from Reactive to Proactive: Most nonprofit founders operate in a state of "constant response." By forcing yourself to identify needle-moving activities, you train your brain to seek those out in 2026.
- Builds the "Delegation Muscle": You cannot lead a 2026-sized organization with a 2025-sized workload. This habit forces you to confront where you are the bottleneck.
- Honors your Intuition: As a founder, our intuition is often our greatest strategic asset, but it’s the first thing silenced by a loud inbox. This habit gives that inner voice a seat at the table.
How to make it stick
Put it on your calendar now as a recurring "Non-Negotiable" event. If you skip it, you aren't just skipping a meeting; you’re skipping the strategy session for your future self.
